The President of Uzbekistan and the Prime Minister of Malaysia agreed to launch a period of innovative development of the Uzbek-Malaysian partnership

On February 5, at the Perdana Putra Government Complex, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim held talks in a narrow format and with the participation of official delegations.
At the beginning of the conversation, the head of our state expressed sincere gratitude to the Prime Minister of Malaysia for the warm welcome and warmly congratulated him on the high achievements of the successfully implemented state strategy "Madani".
The issues of further expansion and strengthening of Uzbek-Malaysian relations of friendship and partnership were discussed.
It was noted that the historic visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia to Uzbekistan in May last year gave a serious impetus to the development of multifaceted relations between the two countries.
Political dialogue and inter-parliamentary contacts have intensified. The volume of mutual trade, the number of joint ventures and the frequency of flights are growing.
Last year, the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission was fruitful, the Business Council was created, and a number of large business forums were organized.
In anticipation of the visit, a meeting of think tanks, presentations of the tourism potential and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan, and a forum of rectors of leading universities were held.
In order to effectively coordinate the development of cooperation and implement agreements at the highest level, a decision was made to create a platform for the Strategic Dialogue of Foreign Ministers.
The importance of continuing mutual support within the framework of the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other international structures was noted.
Particular attention was paid to issues of practical cooperation in trade, economic and investment spheres.
In order to increase trade turnover, an agreement was reached to develop an Agreement on Preferential Trade, hold mutual industrial exhibitions, and adopt an Industrial Cooperation Program.
The Government of Malaysia actively supports Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization.
The leaders agreed to declare 2025-2026 a period of innovative development of the Uzbek-Malaysian partnership.
Priority areas of the new model of economic cooperation have been identified: petrochemicals and chemistry, electronics and semiconductor industry, innovative industry, smart agriculture, green energy, pilgrimage tourism and others.
In order to support cooperation projects, a special economic zone is being created in the Tashkent region under the management of a leading Malaysian company.
The leaders of the states spoke in favor of further active cultural and humanitarian exchange. This year, mutual Culture Weeks will be held in Uzbekistan and Malaysia.
The leaders also exchanged views on topical issues of regional cooperation. They noted the importance of combining efforts in the fight against terrorism, radicalism and Islamophobia.
Following the talks, a decision was made to prepare a roadmap for the timely and high-quality implementation of the agreements.
In conclusion, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan.
