Melodies of the East
Under the auspices of UNESCO, the 13th International Music Festival “Sharq Taronalari” (“Melodies of the East”), one of the most significant musical events in Central Asia, will be held in Samarkand from August 26 to 30.
The festival, held every two years, has become a symbol of preserving cultural heritage and strengthening international cooperation. Its goal is not only to identify talented performers, but also to promote dialogue between cultures, promoting ideas of peace and mutual understanding.
More than 300 performers from over 60 countries are expected to participate this year, and applications continue to arrive.
The festival program includes a national song and instrumental music competition, an international scientific conference on “Musical Culture of Eastern Nations: Principles of Creative Consistency in the Context of Globalization”, and numerous concerts at various venues in Samarkand. The culmination will be a gala concert and award ceremony for the winners, who will be awarded diplomas, statuettes, and cash prizes in the amount of:
Grand Prix – $10,000;
1st place (in each category) 2x5,000 – $10,000;
2nd place (in each category) 2x3,500 – $7,000;
3rd place (in each category) 3x2,000 – $6,000.
If a suitable candidate is not determined according to the jury’s decision, the Grand Prix will not be awarded.
