On May 13-14, the Asian Women's Forum will take place in Samarkand.
The initiative to hold this forum was put forward by the President of our country at the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, aiming to realize the constructive potential of women leaders in the region, exchange experiences for further expanding their participation in governance and society, as well as in the economy.
It is expected that the forum will be attended by women parliamentarians from East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Central Asia, heads of governments, representatives of state bodies and civil society institutions, businesswomen, political scientists, social activists, scholars, representatives of various economic sectors.
The forum will consist of 10 parallel sessions. Participants will discuss the involvement of women in scientific activities, education, and innovation, as well as the use of digital technologies, poverty reduction through expanding economic rights and opportunities for women, their involvement in entrepreneurship and innovation, and ensuring their leadership in the modern global economy.
In addition, the forum will address the participation of women in achieving Sustainable Development Goals. Special attention will be paid to issues such as expanding women's economic opportunities, the role of parliaments in stimulating their participation in business and society, gender-responsive budgeting, eliminating gender disparities in the use of financial opportunities, and eradicating all forms of violence against women and children.
Participants will discuss the advanced experience and innovative approaches of non-governmental non-profit organizations in promoting the "green" economy, the impact of climate change on gender issues in the region, as well as the protection of women's rights and interests.
The Samarkand Declaration is expected to be adopted at the conclusion of the forum.
